Actor Geoffrey Rush was little known outside his native Australia when he soared to international prominence on the wings of his remarkable portrayal of eccentric pianist David Helfgott in Scott. Geoffrey Rush In Conversation is an opportunity to hear the actor reflect on his career, provide insights in the industry, and share anecdotes of his experiences. To celebrate the exhibition, Geoffrey Rush will be appearing in a one-off special event on Saturday 27 July from 5 to 6pm at Fairfax Studio with ABC's Virginia Trioli. The Extraordinary Shapes of Geoffrey Rush will be showing in Gallery 1 from July 6 to September 29. Also on display will be Rush’s ‘triple crown of acting’: his Academy Award, Emmy Award and Tony Award. The exhibition includes the costumes of Captain Barbossa in Pirates of the Caribbean Philip Henslowe in Shakespeare in Love the Marquis de Sade in Quills Poprishchin in The Diary of a Madman King Berenger in Exit the King and Lady Bracknell in The Importance of Being Earnest. Throughout Rush's prolific and distinguished career he has earned international acclaim for his work on both stage and screen, and the exhibition will largely focus on Rush’s talent as a great character actor. The exhibition will reflect on his many achievements to date and explore his ability to inhabit characters through a remarkable physical and verbal dexterity.
